Definition of Play Therapy by the Association for Play Therapy (APT) - WWW.A4PT.ORG

“Play Therapy is defined by APT as “the systematic use of a theoretical model to establish an interpersonal process wherein trained Play Therapists to use the therapeutic powers of play to help clients prevent or resolve psychosocial difficulties and achieve optimal growth and development.”

Play Therapy should only be provided by graduate-level mental health professionals who have met the required education, clinical licensure, and additional specialized training and supervision specific to Play Therapy.”

At The Center for Connection, Janet Nordine, MS, LMFT, RPT-S (Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor TM) is one of the only Registered Play Therapist Supervisors in private practice in Las Vegas. She supervises and consults with therapists who are seeing children at The Center for Connection to provide support for the therapist as they use play to support their clients.

Therapy rooms that are designed for play are carefully set up and very different from your typical therapist’s office. These specially designed therapy offices are set up in a way that children are able to share their stories through play and with the therapist as a witness.
